Hi, I’m David and I manage the business side of Actors Workshop.

I’m an accredited performance coach, a director of Porter’s, a lecturer at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Budgeting and Finance on the MA in Arts Management and a Clore Fellow.

I’ve always been involved and loved the arts even from an early age. Originally I was a professional actor, then studying Drama before Arts Management and moving into producing and company management.

I cofounded Actors Workshop with Jamie in 2001, worked for the Cardiff International Festival of Musical Theatre between 2002-2005 and was appointed the Producing and Administrative Director for Moving Being Ltd, managing the Nesta funded Alternating Currents Project at Swansea’s National Waterfront Museum.

In 2007 and 2008 I worked with Oxford University managing their Engaging Cogs’ Wales based events, consulted for Zoom Cymru (Wales’ young people’s film festival) and conceived/directed a performing arts installation for Reuters in their Canary Wharf headquarters.

During this time I was also the Project Manager at Diversions (now National Dance Company Wales) overseeing the public programmes at the Dance House. I became Deputy Director in 2008, responsible for the finance & administration, marketing, participation and projects departments. I coordinated the change of name to National Dance Company Wales and the successful business plan bid for the Investment Review. I left the Company in September 2011 to follow the Clore Leadership Programme as the 2011/12 Arts Council of Wales Fellow.

In 2012 I returned to Cardiff and cofounded Porter’s Cardiff LLP a new arts/pub venture and started Actors Workshop producing consultancy In A Supporting Role.
