Autumn 2009 Programme

The Actor’s Toolkit Term

September kicked started the first of four blocks of workshops designed to build performance potential. September looked very much at the skills that were called upon by the working actor. The foundations of any successful career.

October saw us move onto skills practice, allowing participants to put into play a range of skills picked up during the first three workshops. Participants were able to try out vocal, physical and mental skills in a range of practical workshops.

In November, a month of workshops that looked at broadening perspectives on theatre performance. Each week a different ‘play for a day’ was studied using ‘on your feet’ demonstrations. Each workshop looked at an exciting text that coincided with a production that was being performed that week in Cardiff, allowing participants to explore the text in performance as well as off the page.

And finally, December provided an opportunity for an informal show-back where participants had the chance to try out a range of skills from improvisation, new writing and script in hand performance.
