Series 2: Summer 2006, The Gate Arts Centre, Main Theatre

This second six week advanced series again looked at the study of Constantin Stanislavski, "the father" of the acting system. Working on a Script

Through weekly workshops, Stanislavski’s acting systems were examined using practical examples with the aid of a number of published texts. The group, having been divided into pairs looked at the following plays:

  • Closer by Patrick Marber
  • The Crucible by Arthur Miller
  • Look back in anger by John Osborne

Stanislavski’s techniques such as Action, Units and Objectives and Emotion Memory were dealt with and explored by the group.

For this series it was decided that a more intimate performance space would be created, bringing the audience closer to the action.
