Series 1: Spring 2006
Past Advanced Masterclasses:
Series 1: Spring 2006, The Gate Arts Centre, Main Theatre
This first six week advanced series looked at the study of Constantin Stanislavski, "the father" of the acting system.
Through weekly workshops, Stanislavski’s acting systems were examined using practical examples with the aid of a number of published texts. The group, having been divided into pairs and threes looked at the following plays:
- Entertaining Mr. Sloane by Joe Orton
- Death and the Maiden by Ariel Dorfman
- Top Girls by Caryl Churchill
Stanislavski’s techniques such as Action, Units and Objectives and Emotion Memory were dealt with and explored by the group.
At the close of the series participants took part in an open show back sharing of their scenes, with the opportunity to share their knowledge of the creative process.
