David Wilson - Business Director

David WilsonDavid's passion has always been the arts and theatre, and in 1993 he performed professionally at Greenwich Theatre. He went onto study Drama at The University of Wales; Aberystwyth, followed by a postgraduate diploma at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Arts Management. After a short period as a Management Informational Analyst for a national company, David moved back to the arts as co-founder and Business Director for Actorsworkshop LLP, a community arts resource designing, creating and delivering arts based educational training to communities, businesses and individuals across South Wales.

David worked for the Cardiff International Festival of Musical Theatre for five years between 2002-2007, at the same time as incorporating Actorsworkshop as a partnership. At the Festival his responsibilities ranged from general administration, the education programme and policy to supporting the Board of Directors and their sub-committees. In December 2006 he was offered the role of Deputy Chief Executive, before the Board of Directors took the decision to close, due to the lack of financial backing.

In 2003 David became the Administrative and Producing Consultant to Moving Being Ltd, supporting their Alternating Currents project. In 2005 he was asked to join the senior management team as the Administrative and Producing Director working closely with fellow Directors Geoff Moore and John Thorne. Moving Being designed and produced a new Science/Arts Educational intermedia and cross disciplinary new-learning project concentrating on the forgotten genius of electricity Nikola Tesla. Alternating Currents was funded by Nesta (the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts) and supported by the Arts Council of Wales and the University of Glamorgan.

David has also worked with the British Juggling Convention, Music For Youth, NoFit State Circus and The Sherman Theatre. Between 2006 and the end of 2007 he worked as a freelance project manager and fundraising consultant for engaging cogs and Zoom Cymru. David continued to provide services as a theatre producer, event manager and fundraising consultant.

David also designs unique events based communication projects and bespoke corporate training. In February 2007 David produced 10 to 10, a collaborative performance, acted and devised by a group of theatre practitioners, working scientists and science communicators over 12 hours, funded by the National Science and Engineering Week and the Welsh Assembly Government. More recently David devised and directed a pensions communication event using circus and performance installation for Reuters annual pensions benefits exhibtion within the Reuters Building in Canary Wharf.

In May 2007 David accepted the post of Project Manager for Diversions, the National Dance Company of Wales, and in August 2008 became the Deputy Director.
