9th June 2002 St Briavels Castle, St Briavels, Gloucestershire

A promenade outdoor performance challenging the audiences ability to move and follow a performance around three large scale venues. The fully costumed and site specific tour brought together Actorsworkshop’s first collaboration with T&M Technical Services and English Heritage.

Brynteg School
The initial performance was scheduled in the grounds of Brynteg School to give the performances further afield a suitable run in. A relatively good performance given the constraints of the space and the nerves of the cast and we were glad this was our first performance, as the performers who hadn't performed before had a warm response. The audience seemed to enjoy it and wanted to walk around, which would really be possible at the next two venues.

Goodrich Castle
Goodrich castle is stunningly beautiful and was the jewel of the tour, a very effective and easy Get In, followed by some appropriate pre-show warm up activities. The show was itself was the best performance by the group. The venue, the rehearsals and the tech team really pulled together for this show.

St Briavels
Wet, and tough. Obviously this was going to be difficult as the conditions in the area had worsened. The Cast were in various places and obviously finding the potential performance a difficult prospect. The Tech team, fitted up and prepared for some hopeful clear skies. The day cleared up and we had a reasonable audience given the earlier rain. Both performances were good and the characterisations were still relatively solid, the cast felt low but that is natural after such an amazing performance at Goodrich.
