10 ‘til 10 - What is it?
10 ‘til 10 is a collaborative theatre piece written, acted and produced by a group of theatre practitioners, working scientists and science communicators. Coming together at 10:00am on the day of the performance, the group will work together to devise a script on a scientific theme, rehearse the programme and set up all technical requirements to open the doors at 8:00pm to a full public audience. The programme ends by 10:00pm with an informal evaluation and debrief with the audience in the cafĂ© of the venue.
A collaboration of theatre and science expertise
During the creation of the piece both theatre and science professionals will be asked to share their expertise in a variety of ways. Rather than scientists choosing a topic to be portrayed by actors, the group will work together at each stage of the production. The intense nature of the project will quickly promote co-operation and skill sharing between professionals who may only be peripherally aware of each others work.
