Meisner Technique Makes it to Wales

22 Jan 2008

Actorsworkshop, the Cardiff based Theatre Company, whose new Spring term is well underway, are about to start their Meisner series. Their 12-week packed programme has got off to a great start with 18 brand new members.

"We’ve had a fabulous response to the new term brochure," David Wilson, Actorsworkshop’s Business Director commented. "Participants have been logging onto our website, downloading the programme, purchasing workshops through our on-line website and also coming to Chapter since we started the term. We’ve been inundated with new people and the response to the new style has been extremely positive."

Actorsworkshop continue with "Getting the Part" this Thursday, where participants will learn how to get closer to that all important first role. "The term was designed to de-mystify the process used in performing arts practice", stated Jamie Lee, Artistic Director for Actorsworkshop. "It’s important to give those interested in acting the confidence and ability to go for what they want, and that’s what we’re doing with the Spring programme."

On the 31st January Actorsworkshop start a three-week exploration of Sanford Meisner’s work. Meisner was a US acting coach renowned for his work with top film actors. Participants will learn many of his methods, understand the theories behind his work and develop believable acting skills.

Jamie continued, "I’m really excited that the Meisner series is so popular. I’ve been looking at his techniques and using them in my teaching and directing for a while, so its great that everyone wants to get to grips with this style of acting coach!"
