Actorsworkshop: Advanced
12 Jan - 15 Mar 2012
Thursday Nights
1st Space, Chapter Arts Centre, 7.00-9.30pm
Our new advanced term will take place each Thursday evening at Chapter Arts Centre from 12th January until 15th March and will look at approaching texts. During the term you'll work on a scripted duologue and monologue from an established theatre play and work towards an end of term show-back of the scene in the final session to invited guests.
This course is designed for those with a good existing knowledge of acting and for those who wish to develop/polish these skills further. The course will look at a range of practitioner methods from Stanislavski through to Meisner in order to build the relevant skills to develop a truthful and confident performance.
The course is demanding. Due to the compact nature of the course, we ask that successful participants commit to the process wholeheartedly, this including taking on background reading and scene study beyond the weekly sessions. This ensures the creative process is fully explored by all involved.
Scripts that have been used in the past include:
- Speaking in Tongues
- Days of Significance
- A Dolls House
- The Crucible
- Entertaining Mr. Sloane
- Closer
- Miss Julie
Entry to this series is a two-stage process. Stage one is an application form.
Should your first stage be successful we will then invite you to audition in front of a panel using a monologue of your choice, that lasts between 2 and 3 minutes. The genre and period may be of your own choosing and should best demonstrate your greatest strengths
Box Office:
The cost of the course is £130 which is due before the commencement of the course.
